If you book a course with any XC tow safari do not expect to make the distance of your dreams although it can happen! Weather, timing, skill & luck is prerequisite for long distance. But you might get lucky in the chosen date you pick. My first paid XC safari in flatlands I beat my personal best by an extra 20km.
AT WHAT PILOT LEVEL?
Unless your a skilled pilot and have good grounded XC skills of at least 50km and more I would suggest spending more time at Manilla / Bright / Canungra.
TIMING
The main time for big distance is December to March. Dalby up to April there has been easy days with flights over 300 klms following one main road.
REMOTE AREAS
A SAT PHONE or SPOT is essential while many areas are so remote and do not have any reception.

All SIV courses in Australia are run on a lake with a boat. A further pre requisit is you must have a TOW endorcment. Other opportunities for doing SIV with launches from mountains exist overseas. The main places - Oludeniz in Turkey or Annecy in France.
